Following on from last week when we identified safety issues in school, we wrote letters to Ms Alden asking if she could have a few areas fixed to keep us safe. Ms Alden said she would try to have them fixed as soon as possible and thanked us for being safety conscious.
Today we sang a song in assembly for Chinese New Year. It is called 'Gong Xi Ni Ya' We wore Chinese or red clothes. 'It was brilliant', said Tom. 'It was fantastic', said Patricia. 'It was amazing', said Snehansh. We thought we did a great job!
Since we came back to school we have been very busy. Here are a few activities that the students wanted to share with you. We wondered around the school to find things that are safe and are not safe. We took pictures of safe things in school using the iPads. Later we looked at the pictures, chose one picture and wrote about what it was and how it keeps us safe. We played 'I Spy' in class and outside with shapes. We had to find things that were the shape that our partners told us. We found a bench that was a cuboid, a ball that was a sphere, a fence that was a cuboid etc. We enjoyed working on the iPads during a literacy workshop when we read using the Razkids website. We also loved the 'What's missing' station during the maths workshop. We have also been practising for the Chinese New Year assembly. K2 led the Christmas celebration at ISS and decided that we would have the emphasis on 'giving'. We asked all the Elementary students to make 'gift boxes' and put a special wish inside their box. Shradha, Aini and Pat made a sleigh and all the boxes were put in the sleigh at the entrance to the school. It was a great way to focus on 'giving' at this time of year.
