With the help of some parents (thanks Misha, Mike and Kaeko), K2 enjoyed an exciting morning of inquiring into materials, their properties and the tools required to cut, join, mould etc. The stations including areas where the children could create models out of recycled material; build models; inquire into magnets; explore water and what sinks and floats; cut various materials using saws, scissors, knives etc; make paper out of recycled paper using a blender; explore the effect of light on different materials; hammer, drill and screw into various materials; discover and learn about rocks - where they come from and what they are used for; make models from clay, wire, play dough, plastic etc.
It was an exciting and interesting experience for the students who were engaged and responsible throughout the whole session. They understood the need for small groups, safety goggles and adult supervision.
